Kupuna in the Kitchen was created by students at Iolani School who are passionate about preserving home-cooked recipes and histories of our of beloved kupuna. Each recipe shares the history of our kupuna as well as the origins of their family dishes, such as Great Grandma s New Year s Ozoni Soup, Nana s Pickled Aku Bones, and Moist Banana Cake. All proceeds will go towards Project Dana and Hawaii Meals on Wheels, two nonprofits that are dedicated to bringing needed services to our kupuna in Hawaii. This cookbook serves to honor all kupuna home cooks who have shaped Hawaii s culinary traditions and encourage others to preserve their historic family recipes.
